Richard leads the internal, external, scientific and product communications, global government affairs and policy, patient advocacy and philanthropy at AstraZeneca. He is also the President of the AstraZeneca US Healthcare Foundation, a $25MM non-profit supporting, among other things, the reduction of cardiovascular disease in underserved communities.
Rich brings to his role extensive government, public affairs and corporate communications experience within the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining AstraZeneca, Rich was Director of Federal Government Affairs at Eli Lilly, and prior to that he was Legislative Counsel at PhRMA. He has also served as an Assistant Parliamentarian in the United States Senate. He graduated from Boston College and American University Law School.
