10 years ago - SAP has announced it will invest up to $500 million through 2020 to train local talent and drive sustainable innovation and growth in Africa, with the overall goal of establishing the continent as one of the company's top-five global growth markets.Much of the direct investment will be outside South Africa, where SAP already has a solid footprint. This will include SAP operations across 51 African countries, including Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, and Mauritania.The SAP Africa growth plan is built on four pillars:

10 years ago - Today at the 14th SAP Automotive Forum, July 1-2 in Leipzig, Germany, SAP announced two co-innovation projects aimed at broadening the potential of connected-car technology.The first is a pilot with Volkswagen AG and further partners that will use SAP’s mobility and cloud services to help drivers locate parking and nearby food offers in Hannover, Germany. The pilot is the result of a multi-year partnership and co-innovation investment by both companies aimed at driving standardization and common formats to consume such cloud-based services.

The initiative launched officially today at SAP headquarters in Walldorf, Germany.To mark the occasion, Peter Rasper, EVP and head of global finance infrastructure, and Daniel Schmid, Chief Sustainability Officer, handed over the keys to the owner of the 10th electric company car at SAP — the company says 50 more electric cars are set to join the fleet by the end of the year.

To help change this reality, the company supplied technical training to more than 500 coffee growers, teaching them how to effectively use mobile tablets and computers to access the “coffee portal,” which provides useful information on coffee market news, geographical farm data, coffee purchasing conditions, incentives and support programs.
